Can You Use a Debit Card on Polymarket?

Polymarket does not support debit card payments as a direct funding method. The platform operates exclusively on blockchain infrastructure and requires USDC deposits sent via the Polygon network. That said, residents of the UK can readily fund their Polymarket accounts using a debit card by routing transactions through an intermediary crypto exchange—a process that takes only a handful of straightforward steps.

How to Deposit via Debit Card (UK)

  • Step 1: Register with Coinbase, Kraken, or Revolut (each of these platforms accepts UK Visa and Mastercard debit cards)
  • Step 2: Finish the exchange's identity verification process (usually completed instantly using a passport or driving licence)
  • Step 3: Purchase USDC directly using your debit card at the exchange
  • Step 4: Transfer your USDC to a MetaMask wallet configured for the Polygon blockchain
  • Step 5: Move funds from MetaMask into your Polymarket account

Which UK Exchanges Accept Debit Cards?

Leading UK-based exchanges support both Visa and Mastercard debit cards for purchasing cryptocurrency:

  • Coinbase UK — Accepts Visa/Mastercard, transactions settle instantly, charges approximately 1.5%
  • Revolut — Purchase USDC directly through the mobile app with your Revolut card, minimal charges
  • Kraken — Supports Visa/Mastercard, around 1.5% cost, holds FCA authorisation
  • Binance UK — Accepts Visa/Mastercard, offers competitive pricing structures

Are There Bank Restrictions?

Certain UK financial institutions (including Starling Bank and particular Lloyds accounts) may decline cryptocurrency-related card transactions. Should your deposit be rejected, reach out to your bank to enable crypto transactions, or consider switching to a crypto-friendly provider such as Revolut, Monzo, or Wise.

Total Time: Debit Card to Trading

If your exchange account is already identity-verified: fewer than 10 minutes. For new accounts using rapid verification: between 30 and 60 minutes typically.
